Cofounder Karl Kreutzman and Executive Director Dick Ambrosius welcomed nine Iowa veterans to a very special hunting experience on the evening of November 12th south of Mitchell, SD. After checking in at Rooster Roost Ranch, the group headed to Powder Horn Ranch Regulators for a unique evening hosted by Troy and Bonnie Bollock. The evening began with a quick draw demonstration after which the veterans all enjoyed shooting against the clock…with no one shooting back. After the competition, members of the Powderhorn Quick Draw club provided a complimentary buffet of ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, corn and a wonderful variety of homemade dessert. Ad if this gift to WNGU and the participating veterans was no enough, host The Bollocks presented WNGU with a $500 donation.
After leaving Powderhorn Ranch, the group returned to Rooster Roost Ranch for adult beverages and social time. The next morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by host Sheryl Gruenwald whose husband Ray was a guide and host for the hunt along with manager Doug Backlund. Next on the agenda was a trap shoot ending with some friendly competition. After a wonderful hunt with plentiful birds, we returned to the Ranch for lunch prior to departing.
